What does Carramore mean?
Carramore is from Carraig Mhor in Scottish Gaelic.
Carraig means rock and mhor is feminine for great or big, pronounced
vore. You can see that it has lost quite a bit in Anglicisation.
It is the name of a rock close to the north-west
coast of the Highlands of Scotland. The grandfather of the founder
(Alasdair Grant) moored his fishing boat opposite it.
